First has a variety of MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES for all ages!!

Adult & Family Ministry Opportunities:

WELCA (Women of the ELCA)

First Lutheran has a very active WELCA group. The ladies of the church meet monthly. During the meeting they enjoy a Bible Study, fellowship, and snacks.

Our WELCA ladies are also very mission minded! Through out the year they assemble quilts to be donated to LWR (Lutheran World Relief). They also package goodies for members of our community. They also collect school kits.

Outdoor Summer Worship

We enjoy a worship service during the summer

months in the great outdoors! We welcome all to come

join us to rejoice in God's beautiful creation with us.

The Outdoor Summer Worship also allows us time to

come together and worship with our sister church,

Concordia Lutheran in Concord.

Student Ministry Opportunities:

Sunday School

Students in grades kindergarten through 6th are welcome to join in Sunday School on Sunday mornings beginning at 8:30. Sunday School is held during September through May. All students are welcomed and encouraged to join in!

YOUTHerans & Mini YOUTHerans

VBS

First Lutheran partners with United Methodist Church to offer a community wide VBS. The VBS is held one week during the summer and open to all students of our community, kindergarten through 6th. Older students are encouraged to volunteer to help make our VBS a success!!

Kids 4 God

First Lutheran, in conjunction with United Methodist Church, work to offer a Wednesday after school program. During this time the students are taught many Bible stories and lessons, enjoy games, and snacks.

Outreach Ministry Opportunities:

Fall Festival

A time of fellowship for our community to come together. We enjoy celebrating the bountiful harvest God has blessed us with, delicious food, and outdoor activities (weather permitting).

BINGO

First offers a monthly opportunity to come together as a community and enjoy a good game of BINGO. Kids and adults alike enjoy our time together. We look forward to seeing new families each time we host Bingo.  Prizes have included: baked goods, Turkeys and Hams, plants, and white elephant gifts.

Soup Supper

The last Sunday of February is our Annual Soup Supper. This is a time for the community as well as people in the surrounding area to get together and enjoy hot soup and each others company.

Farmer's Market

Saturday mornings during the summer our church sets up a Farmer's Market at the Country Gas and Goods in town. Our members donate veggies and baked goods at our free will donation market. The money collected is used to help our outreach ministry. This year we were able to donate the money to Haven House in Wayne.

Dixon County Food Pantry

We regularly hold food drives to help supply the Dixon County Food Pantry. The Dixon County Food Pantry is located in Allen, just up the street from First.

Allen's Backpack Program

In a joint effort between First Lutheran Church and United Methodist Church, the churches aids students enrolled at Allen Community Schools in making sure they have access to food during the weekend. We prepare bags full of nutritious food for the Allen Elementary School. Bags are delivered at the end of the school week. Our annual Shopping for a Cause - Ladies Night Out is our biggest fundraiser.

Haven House

Haven House is dedicated to empowering victims and survivors of domestic violence by offering supportive services, resources and shelter in addition to providing education, awareness, and prevention programs to the community.

First Lutheran has donated the money collected during the Summer's Farmer's Markets to Haven House. Our church family has also come together to collect socks and underwear to donate to Haven House.
